Johnstown Concert Ballet Announces Wearable Art Fundraiser to Support DANCE WORKS

The creative evolution is underway in Cambria City’s historic district, and a new event has emerged to raise funds for the latest project–Johnstown Concert Ballet’s DANCE WORKS—which promises to get people moving and creating in an entirely new direction. All are invited to the Some Like it Haute! A WEARABLE ART FASHION EVENT 6 – 9 pm October 26, at BOTTLE WORKS, in the ART WORKS Gallery on Third Avenue.

An evening of art as fashion, The Wearable Art event is designed to raise financial support towards renovation of the  the Johnstown Concert Ballet’s (JCB) newly acquired historic building on Broad Street (formerly Hornick’s Harware) slated to become  The Center for Dance and Movement.  This will also be the site of DANCE WORKS, a 501 (c) 3 not-for-profit, whose services will focus on transforming the lives of people of all ages and physical conditions.

“The Wearable Art Fashion event was an idea generated by the DANCE WORKS building renovation fundraising committee. It is designed to provide a great evening of entertainment and a showcase for creative fashions, but most of all, to raise awareness of DANCE WORKS,” said Rosemary Pawlowski, JCB development consultant.

Some Like it Haute will feature original, never before seen pieces of jewelry, couture and body fashion, created by professional artists from Lancaster to Pittsburgh. The Wearable Art Fashion event will feature live models, ballerinas, live music, hat fashions (by the Hat Ladies), the Silhouette Lady, artisan food (appetizers to dessert provided by Press Bistro), open wine and beer, signature drinks and more. Many of the featured runway items will be for sale as well as additional selections on display from the designers and artists before, during and after the show.

Seating is limited. Event tickets are $50 (all-inclusive) and may be purchased online through our Eventbrite page, or by calling (814) 243-2224.

ALL TICKETS MUST BE PRE-PURCHASED. TICKETS ARE NOT AVAILABLE AT THE DOOR.

“With the limited seating and innovative concept, we anticipate that this exciting fundraiser will be a sold out event,” Pawlowski added. “The creativity of this region’s artists knows no bounds.  However, we often miss much because the artist takes his work to a level that is considered unsaleable or extreme…which fits perfectly with the criteria for this show.  The committee has commissioned smart, haute and edgy, head-to-toe art that will challenge attendees to consider what to them is a “fashion fit.”
